Looking back at 2021-2022
What Did We Learn from 2020-21?
It is no secret, COVID-19 caught each and every business by surprise. Companies had to think fast and make the most difficult of decisions to survive. Maintaining high levels of customer service and employee satisfaction against a backdrop of reduced revenues and other significant threats, many organisations had a drastic rethink of their existing business models and made many necessary changes.
Delays to Digital Transformation (DX)
Far too many organisations got 'found out' as a realisation sank in that they did not have the correct agile technologies to support a change to their business model or employee demands. Many rushed into free licensing through applications such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams, and whilst that allowed them to quickly support their remote workforce, it opened them up to risk due to a lack of universal governance and compliance, causing them serious issues elsewhere.
A Single Unified Vision
The pandemic has helped companies understand just how much value collaboration tools have to offer, not just in terms of increased overall business productivity, but also in terms of inclusion and supporting a more distributed workforce.
But in order to deliver the necessary UCaaS and CCaaS tools there are many co-dependent areas of technology (such as Infrastructure & Connectivity, Integration & Interoperability, Manageability, Security, Governance & Compliance), which need to be considered fit for purpose recommendations.
From 1000 global enterprises recently surveyed, there is a strong suggestion that COVID-19 has accelerated digital transformation by an average of up to 6 years, however businesses are sweating assets longer and maintaining a cautionary stance around all but essential procurement to support a more unified, singular strategy, driven visibly from the top down.
The Rise (and rise) of Collaboration
The realisation that collaboration tools can help support remote workforce, both in terms of productivity and inclusion, has helped power many organisations during the lockdown periods.
None moreso is this amplified than through the significant increase in the use of Teams. This spike is largely due to the free licensing off of the O365 stack, alongside its natural integration across the Office Suite.
But this study into Teams increased popularity underwrites the entire marketplace, with many other vendors also experiencing a significant rise in demand.
However, user adoption, application up-time, user experience, governance, security and compliance, are all areas which have often required more attention than given due to the speed at which many of these solutions have been delivered out across the remote workforce.
